How to apply for urology training in France

This directory separates clinical fellowships, international visiting placements, observerships and EUSP host routes. A published programme description is not proof of an available position. Historical descriptions remain labelled, and unpublished salary, language and licensing conditions are not assumed.

Apply through the route offered by the host

UROSUD near Toulouse requests a CV and motivation letter through its named fellowship contact. For AP-HP hospitals, host approval and the appropriate administrative placement route must be arranged through the official international clinician pathway ↗, not a patient appointment booking.

Clinical fellowship, observership or university diploma?

DU/DIU university diplomas and IRCAD courses in this directory are educational options; they do not establish a salaried clinical fellowship or permission to treat patients. Choose the placement format before comparing duration and funding.

Robotic training and funding

Nice’s 2026 fellowship brochure ↗ requests a CV and motivation letter at clinical.fellowship@chu-nice.fr, with the subject “Urology Fellowship Application”. Duration and salary are not published. Tenon’s two-year fellowship ↗ requires fellows to secure their own funding; check the Society match calendar separately.

National training and grant routes

The DFMS/DFMSA coordinator ↗ publishes the 2027–2028 application process and French B2 requirement or specified exemption. This national route does not guarantee a urology place or independent practice rights. Follow both the early email step and formal dossier deadlines.

The AFU foreign-visitor grant dossier ↗ requires a sponsored training project and supporting documents. Funding, if awarded, is paid during and after the stay, with no advance; plan travel and initial living costs accordingly.

EUSP host recognition is not a vacancy

The EBU host register ↗ identifies approved fields at French centres. Agree the visit with the host, then check the EAU Short Visit requirements and application calendar ↗. A scholarship award, host acceptance and permission to undertake clinical activities are separate matters.

Paediatric-urology training

Robert-Debré, Necker and Claude-Bernard Lyon appear in the ESPU programme directory ↗. The EBPU two-year training framework does not establish the terms of an individual hospital contract. Ask about current accreditation renewal, supervision and available positions.

Confirm before accepting a placement

  • Start date, duration, supervisor and whether the placement is clinical, observational or research-only.
  • Eligibility after your previous training, required language evidence and permitted clinical duties.
  • Funding, fees, accommodation, insurance and any registration or immigration documents required by the host.
  • The correct application recipient and requested CV, motivation letter, references or research proposal.
